It’s been a steady week for gaming news but there are still plenty of updates for you! Here’s what’s been going on this week:
Brand New Game from Stardew Valley Creator
Stardew Valley creator, Eric Barone (AKA Concerned Ape) surprised us all when yesterday he announced his next game, Haunted Chocolatier on Twitter. Writing on the game’s new website, Eric described Haunted Chocolatier as another ‘town game’, where you arrive in a new town to start a new way of life.
At its core, the gameplay loop involves gathering ingredients, making chocolate, and running a chocolate shop. Of course, there’s a lot more to the game than that, but I don’t want to get too deep into at this early stage.

It certainly looks like another charming world to immerse ourselves in with a similar feel for those Stardew Valley fans. Here’s a first glimpse at the gameplay:

The Uncharted Movie Finally Gets a Trailer
The wait is over. Whether you love it or hate it, the Uncharted movie is coming to cinemas on 11th February (U.K) and 18th February 2022 (US). Some fans have been critical of the casting choices, particularly Mark Wahlberg as Drake’s mentor Sully but the trailer delivers mostly what you’d expect for an action adventure film based on a video game. You can watch it here and please do let me know in the comments if you enjoy watching Tom Holland fall out of a plane twice.
Xbox Series X Mini Fridge Sells Out in Minutes
Topping the list of things you didn’t know you needed this year is the Xbox Series X mini-fridge. Within 15 minutes of pre-orders launching, it was completely sold out, much to the annoyance of fans who missed out on bagging one. It’s since been speculated that scalpers may be responsible for this, as the mini-fridge quickly appeared on Ebay for triple the price.
Game Dev Comedy Mythic Quest Renewed for a Third and Fourth Season
Yesterday, Apple confirmed that it had renewed Mythic Quest for a third and fourth series. If you haven’t already seen it, I’d highly recommend it. The show follows the egotistical Creative Director of a fictional MMORPG, hilariously lampooning the video game industry. Series 1 & 2 are available to stream now on Apple Plus and season 3 will debut in 2022.
Personal News
It’s been another busy week over at Average Joe HQ. I’ve just published a review of charming indie game, No Longer Home which I’d highly recommend to any fans of Kentucky Route Zero.
Next week, I’ll be reviewing the multi-award winning adventure game Röki when it’s released for PlayStation 5 on 28th October. The review will be live on day of release so make sure you keep an eye on the website and social if you’re wondering whether to buy it!
In the meantime, you can watch the gorgeous trailer here:
